Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 02/05/2025

At SatisCation, LLC ("SatisCation," "we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through SatisCation.com (the "Site" or "Service"), how we use and share that information, and the rights and choices you have regarding your information. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please do not use the Service.

Information We Collect

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Service, including personal information and usage data. The information we collect falls into a few categories:

  1. Information You Provide to Us

When you interact with our Service, you may provide information, including:

    • Account Information: If you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, username, and password. (Creating an account is optional; you can use the core features without registering, but an account allows you to save your data and view your history across sessions.)
    • Demographic Data: We collect information about you through the life satisfaction questionnaire or surveys, such as your age range, gender, household income range, whether you rent or own your home, and political affiliation. Providing this information is part of how the Service calculates your life satisfaction score. You may choose not to answer any question that you are uncomfortable with; however, incomplete inputs may affect the accuracy of the results.
    • Preferences and Priorities: The core of our Service involves you rating or selecting your preferences and priorities on various life satisfaction factors (for example, your desired climate, the importance of safety, quality of education, economic opportunities, community, etc.). These preference inputs are collected when you use our tools.
    • Survey Responses: If you participate in our HOA resident feedback survey or any other surveys on the Site, we will collect your responses to the survey questions. These may include your opinions or satisfaction levels regarding your neighborhood, city services, or other community factors.
    • Communication Data: If you contact us directly (for example, via email to [email protected] or through a contact form), we will receive the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide (such as your name and any contact information you include in or with the message).

We will clearly indicate when we are asking for personal information, and you can always choose whether or not to provide it. However, some features (like account creation or receiving a personalized score) may not be available if you choose not to provide certain information.

  2. Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Service (whether or not you have an account), we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with the Site. This information helps us understand usage and improve our Service. It includes:

    • Usage Data: We collect information about your activity on the Site, such as the pages or screens you view, the date and time of your visits, the features you use (e.g., which factors you adjust or which cities you explore), and the referring URL or page that led you to our Site.
    • Device and Technical Data: We receive information about the device and browser you use to access the Service. This may include your IP address, browser type, device type (e.g., desktop, mobile), operating system, hardware model, unique device identifiers or browser fingerprint characteristics, and other technical information. This information might be collected through server logs, third-party analytics, and similar technologies.
    • Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as local storage and device fingerprinting techniques) to collect information automatically. Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help websites function and gather information. For example, we might use cookies to remember your preferences or inputs so that you don’t have to re-enter information when you revisit the Site, or to recognize that you have logged in. We describe our use of cookies and how you can control them in more detail in the Cookies and Tracking section below.

This automatically collected data generally does not directly identify you by name, but it may be considered personal information under certain privacy laws (for example, IP addresses or unique device IDs might be considered personal data in some jurisdictions). We treat it as personal information if it can be reasonably linked to you.

  3. Information from Third Parties

Currently, we do not collect personal information about you from third-party sources such as social networks or data brokers. If in the future we enable login via a third-party account (like Google or Facebook OAuth) or gather data from public sources (for example, city data related to satisfaction factors), we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and ensure any such collection respects your privacy rights.

We may, however, use or reference aggregated public data to improve our life satisfaction scoring (for instance, using public crime rates or school quality metrics by city). Any such data is about locations or populations, not individuals, and is not linked to your personal information.

How We Use Your Information

SatisCation uses the collected information for various purposes consistent with providing and improving our Service and your experience. Specifically, we use your information in the following ways:

How We Share Your Information

By using our Service, you consent to our Terms and Privacy Policy. We may display cookie banners, sign-up checkboxes, or other explicit mechanisms to confirm your agreement. You can withdraw your consent at any time by discontinuing use of our Service or contacting us to delete your data.

We are based in the United States. If you access our Service from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last Updated" date and notify you if the changes are significant. Your continued use of the Service after an update indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
